Keeping the bugs at bay
Since we tend to spend more time indoors during the winter months,
it is important to eat a variety of the above foods to help nourish
and protect yourself from colds and viruses.
If you smoke or drink, keep in mind that excessive alcohol, caffeine
and cigarette smoke will rob your body of important nutrients, plus
block the absorption of vitamins B1, B3 and Inositol.
These nutrients are extremely important in the digestion and normal
metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. To help build a
strong immune system, I would recommend a whole food supplement
such as JuicePlus+,
which has been clinically proven to improve the body’s immune
function.
The most important nutrient of all
Don’t forget that dehydration can easily occur during the
winter months, even when it is not very sunny. You need to drink
plenty of water to moisturize your skin and facilitate all bodily
processes.
Having a hot cup of coffee or tea on a cold winter day is very
soothing. However, excessive intake of caffeine and alcohol (3-5
cups daily) actually promote dehydration. So have your coffee or
tea in moderation but make sure you are also drinking plenty of
water.
Until next month,
